Design Talks Night: Siri Dokken

Editorial cartoonist Siri Dokken gave an open talk in the school's library on February the 13th.

  • The purpose of a satirical illustration is to make fun of power, and the genre have historically been very popular in Norway. But who are the powerful ones in today's modern democratic society? And how do you create a drawing that strikes the reader? In her talk, Siri Dokken told about her work as an editorial cartoonist for the Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen. She shared some of her thoughts, experiences and dirty tricks. Dokken said she's not afraid of coming through as rude, as long as the drawing hits the nail in the head.
  • Siri Dokken is newly appointed at the Design department as Professor II in Satirical Illustration. The position is financed by the Fritt Ord Foundation.
